Educational Visit to Onco-Life Cancer Center, Satara

Yashoda Technical Campus, Faculty of Pharmacy, Conducted Educational Visit to Onco-Life Cancer Center, Satara The F.Y. Pharm D students of Yashoda Technical Campus, Faculty of Pharmacy, Satara visited Onco-Life Cancer Center, Shendre, Satara on 29th November 2025 to gain real-time exposure to oncology-based healthcare practices. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of cancer diagnosis, treatment, hospital pharmacy operations, and the multidisciplinary approach involved in modern cancer care. Students were welcomed with an orientation session conducted by Mr. Raj Ghadge, who briefed them about the center’s mission, specialized facilities, and comprehensive patient-care model. The visit included a guided tour through advanced diagnostic departments such as Radiology and Pathology, where students observed CT, MRI, PET scans, biopsy procedures, histopathology, and tumor marker analysis. This exposure helped students understand the clinical significance of diagnostic tools in cancer detection and monitoring. A major highlight was the demonstration at the Chemotherapy Day Care Unit, where students learned about chemotherapy preparation, cytotoxic drug handling, infusion techniques, patient monitoring, and essential safety protocols. At the Oncology Pharmacy, students were introduced to anticancer drug storage systems, dose calculations, sterile compounding, and biosafety measures. The session emphasized the vital role of pharmacists in medication safety, error prevention, and patient counselling. Interactive discussions with oncologists, pharmacists, and nursing staff further deepened students' knowledge of cancer prevention, treatment protocols, palliative care, and emerging trends such as personalized medicine. The visit successfully helped students connect classroom learning with clinical practice, building their confidence and professional outlook. The activity was coordinated by Ms. A. V. Adsul and Mr. V. R. Mohite, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Prakash D. Jadhav. The department expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. P. D. Jadhav, HOD Dr. A. M.
